This handmade necklace can make a statement alone or layer it with another. This necklace is made with flat round mother of pearl beads graduating to smaller round mother of pearl beads and accented with Thai silver stamped beads. A round stamped Thai silver pendant ties them all together along with a complementary Thai silver toggle clasp. Necklace measures approximately 16” and includes a matching charm.
Mother of Pearl is the name given to the iridescent coating on the inside of mollusk shells. This is where the name creator (mother) of pearls comes from. In China, mother of pearl was used to treat heart palpitations, high blood pressure, said to stimulate imagination and help with decision making. It is also thought to be a symbol of faith and innocence.
No two pieces of Thai silver are alike. Each piece is handmade by the Karen Hill Tribe in Northern Thailand. The silver content of Thai silver is between 95-99%, compared with 92.5% in sterling silver. |
