Coin Pearl Necklace

A single freshwater coin pearl is the focal point on an oval chain.  This necklace is adjustable to 18”, so you can wear it as a choker or longer.  Coin pearl measures approximately ½” and each pearl will be unique.  The sterling silver chain has a three dimensional appearance.  Sterling silver lobster clasp.

Pearls are organic gems that are created when an oyster covers a foreign object with layers of nacre. Long ago, pearls were important financial assets because pearls were rare and only created by chance.  Thousands of oysters had to be searched for only one pearl.

Today pearls are cultured by man, most in Japan.  Shell beads are placed inside an oyster and the oyster is returned to the water. When the pearls are harvested, the oyster has covered the bead with layers of nacre creating a pearl.   Freshwater pearls are cultured in freshwater mussels, mostly in China.

Sterling Silver is composed of 92.5% silver & usually another metal, such as copper.  Sterling silver is harder than Hill Tribe Silver and is timeless & versatile.
